Project: Energy Renovation of the Production Building of Balkancar ZARYA AD

In line with the priorities of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), and specifically within the framework of the priority axis "Low-Carbon Economy," Balkancar-ZARYA JSC has successfully launched the implementation of a project titled "Energy Renovation of the Production Building of Balkancar ZARYA AD", under procedure code BG-RRP-4.021-0098-C01.

The project is funded under Procedure BG-RRP-4.021 "Support for Energy Renovation of Buildings in the Manufacturing, Trade and Services Sectors", with a total value of BGN 1,317,789, of which BGN 500,000 is provided as a grant.

Main Goals and Activities

The main objective of the project is to improve the energy characteristics of the existing production building in Pavlikeni, 1 Tosho Katev St., by implementing a comprehensive package of high-efficiency energy measures and integrating renewable energy sources.

The building currently has an outdated structure, low energy efficiency, and ineffective heating and lighting systems. Based on an energy audit, the following key measures have been prescribed:

  • Thermal insulation of external walls (ESM-01);
  • Roof replacement and thermal insulation (ESM-02);
  • Replacement of windows and doors with energy-efficient joinery (ESM-03);
  • Installation of LED lighting (ESM-04);
  • Installation of two thermodynamic boilers (ESM-05);
  • Installation of a photovoltaic system for self-consumption (ESM-06).

 

Environmental and Economic Impact

Through the implementation of the project, Balkancar ZARYA expects to achieve:

  • Savings in primary non-renewable energy of7,678,768 kWh/year compared to the normalized baseline;
  • A more efficient production process within an improved working environment;
  • Annual savings in primary non-renewable energy of 7,678.768 MWh;
  • Reduction in CO₂ emissions by 1,580 tons per year;
  • Increased share of renewable energy used on-site;
  • Improved indoor climate and working conditions.

 

The project fully complies with the "Do No Significant Harm" principle and contributes to all six environmental objectives of the EU, including climate change mitigation and adaptation, transition to a circular economy, prevention of pollution, and preservation of biodiversity.

Implementation Period

The project commenced on March 24, 2025 and will be implemented with an expected completion date of June 30, 2026.
